September 28th Update: Plans are coming together for the girls volleyball tournament. All first round and quarter-final games will be played during the week this season (Oct 13-16) with semi-finals taking place on Sat Oct 17 and championship matches on Sun Oct 18. A tentative gym schedule will be shared with parishes by October 8th. The schedule will not be released until the day before the tournament so everyone needs to be flexible this season. We will avoid matches on October 13th as best we can but we will definitely need to schedule a few that day.
We are currently discussing timelines for the 2020-21 boys and girls basketball seasons and will share this information with parishes during the next few days. Some of the things we are considering are:
Per the Health and Safety Guidelines for the fall girls volleyball season, each player can have a maximum of two adults attend their matches this season (yes, coaches and assistant coaches count towards this total). However, there are some facilities that, due to their size, have different more stringent guidelines.
The following facilities will only allow ONE adult per player:
If you have a team playing at SportsPlus this season, please read the PDF which includes protocol for entering and existing the facility as well as a few maps that show the best place to park and best paths to get to and from the courts.click here to read more ...
Please read the GCCYS Health and Safety Guidelines for the Fall 2020 Girls Volleyball season. This will most likely be updated again and adopted for the winter basketball season. All parishes need to agree to the guidelines in order to participate in the fall girls volleyball league. In addition, all parents must check a box on the GCCYS Liability Waiver indicating that they have read this document and agree to abide by its directives. All Liability Waivers filled out before July 20th have been deleted from the system.click here to read more ...
The league is making a few changes to girls volleyball warm-up and match times this season in order to provide the ability to better socially distance.
For those teams playing at Sports Express this season, please read the following information about guidelines that will be followed at that facility.
- Doors will open when courts are ready for each game time (1st game of day may arrive 20 minutes before game time)
- Parents are asked to stay in cars with their player until the gate opens signalling that the courts are ready
- Subsequent games will have doors open after courts are cleaned
- 1 spectator per player
- $3 door charge (paid by credit card preferably)
- Temperature checks as people enter building (under 100.4)
- Face coverings on every person not actively playing
- Seats are pre-distanced and must stay in their pre-defined spot
- Teams must bring their own balls
- Teams are asked to exit quickly so we can let the next set of games in
- HOME TEAM takes near side of court, AWAY TEAM is far side. Teams do not switch sides of court.
On August 8th, all teams for the fall volleyball season were set to "Approved" status which triggers the creation of web site account for coaches (or an update to your existing account). If you received an email from the web site with account information but did not reply within 24 hours OR you never received an email, you need to claim your account. To do so, please request a new password by navigating to the Password Reset Page and enter the email address that your coordinator gave the league. If you are not sure which email address this is, then go to the Teams Page on the Organization menu and look for the email address associated with your team.click here to read more ...
